Willie Mays started things off by hitting a 410 foot blast over the center field fence, scoring Len Gabrielson ahead of him, and before it was over the Giants had scored 6 runs...for Mays it was his 506th career home run, and naturally his first of the year as he's off and running again. The Giants put together singles by Jim Ray Hart, Jesus Alou, Tom Haller, and Juan Marichal, plus a double by Hal Lanier to score their 6 runs, with the help of Mays' home run...Len Gabrielson also belted a solo homer in the 7th...Juan Marichal put on a dazzling display on the mound, as he had a perfect game going through the first 6 innings, until Ty Cline was safe on an error on the 7th and Glenn Beckert followed with a double...Marichal gave up two more hits to finish with a brilliant 3 hitter..."
